Managing Multiple Integrations

This article shares Double the Donation's best practices for managing multiple integrations, such as with a donation form and CRM, and shares some popular examples that most of our clients have seen when managing multiple integrations.

Preventing Duplicates Donations:

1) Duplicate Donations Exclusion Rule

2) CRM-Specific Inclusion or Exclusion

1. Allegiance and ACD Direct

2. Salesforce CRM and Classy Donation Forms

3. Raiser's Edge NXT and Online Express, Luminate, or NetCommunity forms

4. Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and Fundraise Up Donation Forms

5. DonorPerfect CRM and GiveCloud Donation Forms

6. Bloomerang CRM and Qgiv Donation Forms

Many organizations integrate more than one system with Double the Donation Matching. For example:

  • A CRM integration sends existing donor and gift data into Double the Donation Matching

  • A donation form integration captures employer information at the point of donation

Using both simultaneously helps you:

  • Receive more donation records

  • Capture more employer information

  • Improve matching gift identification and submission rates

Preventing Duplicates Donations:

When using multiple integrations, donation records may enter Double the Donation from two sources (e.g., a CRM and a donation form). To prevent duplicate entries, Double the Donation supports two approaches:

  1. Duplicate Donations Exclusion Rule

  2. CRM-Specific Inclusion or Exclusion Rules

1) Duplicate Donations Exclusion Rule

This rule prevents records from entering Double the Donation Matching when another donation:

  • Has the same email address, and

  • Has the same donation amount

  • Within a defined number of days

You can configure it under: Settings → Exclusion Rules

Recommended Time Window

Based on data flow timing:

CRM Processing Pattern Recommended Lookback
CRM updates in real-time 1–2 days
CRM updates weekly or biweekly 27 days

When multiple integrations process donation amounts differently (e.g., including or excluding processing fees), Double the Donation recommends enabling the 20% buffer.

Why the Buffer Helps

Systems may send different amounts for the same gift (e.g., donor gave $100; platform stores $97.50 after fees). The buffer:

  • Reduces false duplicates

  • Accounts for industry-standard processing and platform fees

  • Captures slight variations in reported donation amounts

2) CRM-Specific Inclusion or Exclusion

Organizations using Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge NXT (RE NXT) can configure dedicated inclusion/exclusion rules to ensure:

  • Only desired CRM records enter Double the Donation

  • Records from other platforms (e.g., Classy, Luminate) do not duplicate CRM entries

Below are the most common platform combinations used by Double the Donation clients, along with recommended configuration notes:

1. Allegiance and ACD Direct

Often organizations that use Allegiance will use ACD Direct forms as well, and vice versa. Both platforms have a donation/pledge form where you have the ability to include our search tool in the donation/pledge form so your donors can easily start the matching gift submission process right away by searching for their donor's name.

ACD Direct

2. Salesforce CRM and Classy Donation Forms

Some organizations use Salesforce CRM and Classy Donation forms. When these integrations are active, new donation records from within your CRM will flow into Double the Donation Matching, and donations from your Classy forms will also flow into the matching module post-transaction.

3. Raiser's Edge NXT and Online Express, Luminate, or NetCommunity forms

Some organizations use Raiser's Edge NXT as their CRM and other Blackbaud platforms for their donation forms, such as Online Express, Luminate, or NetCommunity Forms. Your donation records within your CRM will flow into Double the Donation Matching. For the donation platforms (Online Express, Luminate, or NetCommunity), you have the ability to add our streamlined matching gift search tool on your donation form, so you are able to track donors' employer information if they use the search tool.

  • Online Express, Luminate, and NetCommunity forms support the Double the Donation plugin

  • Employer information flows into the matching module when donors use the search tool

Many organizations use Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and Fundraise Up donation forms. When these integrations are active, new donation records from within your CRM will flow into Double the Donation Matching and donations from your Fundraise Up forms will also flow into the matching module post-transaction.
