From Email Address
When your initial Double the Donation account is created, you may see the primary account holder of your organization's email address in the email address section. However, we default to sending matching gift emails from a Double the Donation email address, matchinggifts@doublethedonation.com. If the DNS setup is not fully configured, matching gift emails to donors will come from Double the Donation. The way to have matching gift emails come from your organization's domain is by setting up the required DNS records. When it is fully configured, this will help email deliverability for your organization, as it will be less likely to be marked as spam.
Why is the DNS Record Setup Important?
Connecting your domain confirms that Double the Donation's platform is authorized to send messages from your organization's domain, allows us to send emails from an email domain of your choosing, and reduces the chances that your email might end up in the junk folder. If this DNS Setup isn't completed, donors will be receiving matching gift emails from matchinggifts@doublethedonation.com and if they respond to the matching gift emails, they will email Double the Donation directly instead of your organization. Therefore, when the DNS Setup is complete, your donors are most likely to own the matching gift emails from your organization and when they respond they will be directly emailing you.
Who should complete the DNS Setup?
Someone from your IT Team or web developer who has access to your DNS. They'll have to add 3 new records to your DNS, then check to see if another has already been added and, if not, add it. The process is fairly straightforward and can be completed in just a few minutes. It takes 12-24 hours for the records to be validated. To make the process as streamlined as possible, we recommend adding a member of your IT team as a user in Double the Donation's platform.
