What will Self-Employed, Retired, Stay at Home Parent, and Unemployed individuals see when they use Double the Donation's tools?

This article explains what happens when a donor interacts with Double the Donation's tools to indicate that they are self-employed, retired, a stay-at-home parent, or unemployed.

Double the Donation's database of companies that match donations almost exclusively consists of business names. We do make a few exceptions and list out additional Employment Statutes that apply to your donors and help your nonprofit capture employment data.

Employment Statuses Listed in Double the Donation's Database:

 

Self-Employed:

  1. This employment status will also show up when donors search for Entrepreneur, Independent Consultant, or Consultant

  2. On Double the Donation's full search plugin, these donors will be encouraged to see if their spouse's employer offers a matching gift or volunteer grant program

  3. In 360MatchPro, donations from these donors will be marked as ineligible for a matching gift.

Unemployed:

  1. This employment status will also show up when donors search for Out of Work, Between Jobs, or Jobless

  2. On Double the Donation's full search plugin, these donors will be encouraged to see if their spouse's employer offers a matching gift or volunteer grant program

  3. In 360MatchPro, donations from these donors will be marked as ineligible for a matching gift.

Stay-at-Home Parent:

  1. This employment status will also show up when donors search for Homemaker, Stay at Home Mom, Stay at Home Dad, Stay at Home Father, or Stay at Home Mother

  2. On Double the Donation's full search plugin, these donors will be encouraged to see if their spouse's employer offers a matching gift or volunteer grant program

  3. In 360MatchPro, donations from these donors will be marked as ineligible for a matching gift.

Retired:

  1. This employment status will also show up when donors search for Retiree, In Retirement, or No Longer Working

  2. Some of these donors may know to search for their former employer as some companies match donations from retirees

  3. For others who search/select Retired, we'll encourage them to see if their former employer offers a matching gift or volunteer grant program that matches donations from former employees who are now retired.

  4. In 360MatchPro, these donors will be marked as Ineligible for a matching gift.

  1. These records won't show up in the "Top Companies" on your dashboard

  2. You can exclude these entries from showing up on your dedicated matching gift page on your website by using the Exclusion Settings within your Double the Donation account
