Step-by-Step: Integrate Double the Donation Matching into Soapbox Engage

This guide is for Double the Donation Matching subscribers using Soapbox Engage.

Note: This setup requires two phases. First, you'll need to enable the Double the Donation Matching integration in the Donations app configuration settings. Then you can edit the plugin on individual donation pages. Once the integration is turned on in phase one, it will automatically be incorporated on all of your donation pages.

Phase 1: Enable Double the Donation Matching in the Donations App

Step #1: Navigate to the "Donations" tab at the top of your home screen.

Step #2: Click the "Configuration" tab.

Step #3: Click "Integrations." Within this tab, you will see the Double the Donation Matching integration. Make sure that it is turned on to ensure that the matching module is automatically included on each of your donation forms. Enter your Double the Donation API Key, which can be found in your matching module. Then click "Apply" to save.

Phase 2: Enable Double the Donation Matching in individual Donations App pages

Step #1: From your homepage, find the donation page on which you'd like to set up the Double the Donation Matching integration. Click "Edit".

Step #2: Navigate to the "Integration" tab. Within this tab, you will find the Double the Donation Integration.

Step #3: You can customize the text you wish to appear for the label of the matching gift search field. Notice in the image below that we have set this text to read "Search to see if your employer will match your donation!" Remember to click "Apply" to save your changes.

Note: The Double the Donation search tool will always appear under the Contact Information section of the Donation form. Therefore, we strongly advise that users put their Contact Information at the top followed by the donation amount. This way the DTD search tool is situated between two crucial elements of the donation process, thus increasing donor engagement with the tool and increasing matching gifts.

Q: I don’t have a Double the Donation Matching account. How do I get one?

A: Visit https://doublethedonation.com/demo-request/ to request a demo! Make sure you mention that you use Soapbox Engage in your demo request form.

Q: Where can I find my public API Key?

A: Login to your Double the Donation account. Click "Settings" to open a drop-down menu and then click "API Keys". You will see the following screen, which includes your Public and Private API Keys.

Q: Where can I embed Double the Donation's matching gift search plugin?

A: We recommend that you incorporate Double the Donation's matching gift search tool across your broader fundraising. To install the search tool anywhere on your website, simply copy and paste the Embed Code from your matching module.

We recommend that you create a dedicated matching gift page where you can explain what matching gift programs are and provide donors with a chance to look up their employer's program forms, guidelines, and instructions. This page can be used as a resource to be included in emails, newsletters, and direct messages.
