Plugin Error Messaging - "Issue preventing Double the Donation's tool from displaying matching gift forms"

This article explains two reasons why your matching gift plugin may be generating the error message "Issue preventing Double the Donation's tool from displaying matching gift forms."

Error Message on the Plugin on Your Website or Hosted Matching Gift Page:

Reason #1: Subscription Expired or Cancelled

Reason #2: Duplicate Account Created

 

If you're getting the following error message it's like due to one of two reasons:

"There is an issue preventing Double the Donation's tool from displaying the matching gift forms, guidelines, and instructions that your organization's donors need to submit their match requests. Learn more about this error message and then please contact Double the Donation's support team to resolve this issue."

Reason #1: Subscription Expired or Cancelled

 

You or a colleague in the past closed your Double the Donation account or your subscription has gone unpaid for an extended period. Because of this your Double the Donation account has been closed and our matching gift tools will stop working. We suggest organizations who close their Double the Donation account remove our software tools from the organization's website but if your organization didn't remove our tools then you'll get the above error message.

Reason #2: Duplicate Account Created

 

You've created a duplicate Double the Donation account are are using the wrong API key. For example, let's say you created an account eighteen months ago and then embedded our plugin. You or a colleague then for some reason closed that account and opened up a new account which comes with a different API key for your plugin. To resolve this, reach out to  Double the Donation's support team at  support@doublethedonation.com and let them know that you have created a duplicate account. Our support team will work with you to address the duplicate account and ensure you are using the plugin code with the correct API key from your live account.
