Does Double the Donation integrate with VolunteerLocal?

This article walks through Double the Donation's integration with Volunteer Local.

Step-by-Step: Integrate Double the Donation Volunteering into VolunteerLocal

Section 1: Activate the Double the Donation integration and add the streamlined search field to event sign-up pages. 

Step 1: Log in to your VolunteerLocal account and navigate to account settings. Then, scroll down until you see "Double the Donation" and enter your public and private API keys.

Step 2: You will see several integration options:
 
For the first option, you can choose “Shifts & Hours” syncing options We recommend option 1: syncing completed shift information if the volunteer has checked in and checked out. If you do not use the checkout functionality, then you can select “Sync upcoming shift information”
 
Next, you can select how you will identify records in Double the Donation using the “Field Mapping” section. This can be based on event name, job name, or both depending on how you would like to organize your data within Double the Donation. 
 
Finally, you can choose what information you would like to include in automated emails by selecting the options under “Custom Fields”. You can choose to configure shift hours or check-in hours depending on what settings you use in VolunteerLocal. We recommend choosing this option based on how you typically track your volunteer hours.
 
 
Step 3: You should now add the Double the Donation search field to your desired event or application registration form to capture volunteer employer information. Navigate to your desired event or application and select "Volunteer Information" 
 

 

Step 4: Create questions that will capture the volunteer's employer, like "Please select your employer". You will need to select "Double the Donation" as the Field Designation for this field to work properly. 

 

 

Now, your Double the Donation account has been activated and appears on your selected form. 

Section 2: Push volunteer info to Double the Donation.

Step 1: Select "Reports" under the "Volunteers" tab. Then, select your desired event or application to see a tab titled "Data Sync/Integration". 

 

 

You can choose which volunteer records you would like to push to Double the Donation. The provided options allow you to choose volunteer records based on either when the shift starts or based on when the volunteer signed up for their shift. 

 

Then, select “Sync to Double the Donation”. 

 

You’re all set! You have now activated the integration, added it to your event form, and synced volunteer records to Double the Donation.

Q: I don’t have a Double the Donation account. How do I get one?

A: Visit https://doublethedonation.com/demo-request/ to request a demo! Make sure you mention that you use VolunteerLocal in your demo request form.

 

Q: How can I edit the automated matching gift templates to include volunteer grant information? 

A: We recommend configuring the automated email templates to the specific needs of your organization. To do this, navigate to the "automated outreach" tab from within Double the Donation Matching. Then, choose the desired email stream that you wish to edit. We recommend reaching out to support@doublethedonation.com for templates for different contribution scenarios.

 

Q: Where can I embed Double the Donation's matching gift and volunteer grant search plugin?

A: We recommend that you incorporate Double the Donation's matching gift and volunteer grant search tool across your broader fundraising. To install the search tool anywhere on your website, simply copy and paste the Embed Code from your matching module. 

 

We recommend that you create a dedicated matching gift and volunteer grant page where you can explain what matching gift programs are and provide donors with a chance to look up their employer's program forms, guidelines, and instructions. This page can be used as a resource to be included in emails, newsletters, and direct messages.
