Getting Started: Email Blacklist and Unsubscribes

Blacklist Management Overview

Within your 360MatchPro portal, navigate to "Blacklist Management," which can be found under "Settings." You can use this blacklist to manually indicate donors who should no longer be receiving automated emails or being contacted by phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I add a donor to the blacklist?
A: Navigate to the Blacklist Management tab. Click "Add emails to blacklist" or "Add phone numbers to blacklist" (shown in the image below). If you'd like to add more than one entry, put each entry on a new line or separate them with commas, or import a CSV of email/phone records.

Q: 360MatchPro automatically blacklists email addresses for six months if the donor is determined to be ineligible for a matching gift. What happens if the donor presses the "unsubscribe" link in their email after 360MatchPro blacklisted the address on a temporary basis?
A: The email address will be blacklisted permanently.

Q: Suppose an email address is added to the blacklist. What happens if that same email address is added to the blacklist again in the future?
A: 360MatchPro trims leading and trailing spaces, then lower cases the email address to determine if it's unique. If an email address is already on the blacklist, the timestamp on that blacklist entry will be updated (Date Added column in the image above). The source (Notes column in the image above) will also be updated.

Q: What happens if an email hard bounces or gets marked as Spam?
A: If an email sent from 360MatchPro hard bounces or the recipient marks it as Spam, then our system automatically moves that email address to the organization's email blacklist account. Future donation records that flow into 360MatchPro will be marked as "Do Not Email" and will have the DNE (do-not-email) icon on it. 360MatchPro won't send additional matching gift emails to these email addresses.

Q: What does the Notes column represent?
A: The Notes column indicates how an entry was added to the blacklist. It can take the following values:
  1. 360MatchPro user interface import
  2. Imported from CRM: For customers that have a direct CRM integration with 360MatchPro
  3. 360MatchPro API import : The add_phone_blacklist or add_email_blacklist 360MatchPro REST endpoints were used.
  4. Ineligible donor - blacklist entry set to expire in X days: The donor is ineligible and therefore blacklisted for six months.
  5. Donor unsubscribed: For email addresses, the donor pressed the "unsubscribe" link in the matching gift email.

Q: Can I delete entries from the blacklist?
A: Yes. Select one or more records in the table (shown in the image above) and press the "Delete" button.

Q: Can I download all the records in the blacklist?
Yes. Select the "Download entries" from the Email Blacklist or Phone Blacklist, and a CSV file will download in your browser.
